President, Charles Williams & Associates, Inc.

Mr. Williams has diverse experience in project management, architecture, and contract administration.  He has overall responsibility for all CWA, Inc., projects and  serves as the primary liaison with the owners.

Career Highlights

Before founding Charles Williams & Associates, Inc., (CWA, Inc.) in 1998, Mr. Williams was a project manager with BellSouth Telecommunications, where he was responsible for managing design/construction projects for various building projects in the state of Alabama primarily in the greater Birmingham area.  Mr. Williams also practiced architecture as a sole proprietor.

Managed the construction fit-up of all interior spaces at three multi-story buildings at the Colonnade Complex in Birmingham (approximately 850,000 square feet of space) occupied by BellSouth.  Project scope included general offices, cafeteria and dining, auditorium and meeting rooms and upscale executive offices, conferencing and dining. Managed the daily operation of the Colonnade Complex for two years.  Efforts included equipment maintenance and replacement, energy management, budgeting, housekeeping, landscape maintenance and interior rearrangements.

Managed construction of a 7,000-Kilowatt Uninterruptable Power Facility to fully support the Birmingham Data Center computer operations. Data center operations were critical to a nine state area.

Roofing efforts included the management of the design and construction of new and replacement roofs of various types i.e., built-up coal tar, modified asphalt, single-ply EPDM, and metal roofs.  Efforts also involved the use of non-destructive moisture survey equipment to maximize expenses in roof maintenance .

Worked with major departments within BellSouth as facility planner for the state of Alabama. Efforts included programming, funding approval, site selection, design input, project design team selection, project management, and procurement of departmental funding.

Served as project architect on the City of Atlanta Wastewater Treatment - Odor Control projects.  Project Scope included the design of three new buildings and the modification of a fourth building on these separate sites.

Served as project architect on various re-roofing projects, and the design of new buildings and building additions for the Birmingham Board of Education and the City of Birmingham including a new state of the art high school.
