Fire Station #4
Birmingham, Alabama
The City of Birmingham desired to fill a need for a fire station in the northwestern portion of the city. The site, on Oslo Cir. near Lakeshore Dr. was ideal for a quaint station that would have a residential presence. The building is a single story brick and stone structure designed to pull from the architectural themes of the United Cerebral Palsy Center directly across the street. The three bay station is complete with a full kitchen, outdoor grilling areas, ample storage space and lodging quarters. In lieu of the typical roll-up bay doors that are standard for most fire station bays, Fire Station #4 has incorporated bi-fold style doors and stained concrete floors that contribute to the overall rustic aesthetic.
