Constructed to replace an existing and outdated facility, the new Huffman High School consists of 265,000sf of academic, administrative, athletic and congregational spaces. The last of an array of Birmingham area high schools to be built utilizing a large bond fund, the Huffman facility sprawls across its 43 acre site with educational buildings, sports fields and facilities, amphitheaters, band fields and beautiful landscaping.

Located in the eastern area of Birmingham, the new school will serve 1100 current students with the capacity of up to 1500. The exterior speaks of traditional, higher learning design language with precast columns, brick expressions and symmetrical organization which is strongly juxtaposed to the interior modern elements of exposed stained concrete floors, high soaring ceilings and highly sophisticated equipment and technology. The implementation of this facility has equipped the Birmingham City School System with another outstanding tool and symbol of learning.
