Serving as the flagship of the school system, the new Selma High School replaces the existing high school in a way that speaks to the past yet gives clear light and inspiration of the future. The challenge with Selma was constructing a new facility on practically the same site as the existing facility while the existing facility was still in use.

 

Thus, the new high school layout features a large open courtyard that formally served as the footprint for the original building. The long linear front is anchored by the auditorium and cafeteria on either end creating a strong visual and physical connection. The school offers two gymnasiums serving as a practice / P.E. facilitiy and the main competition gym. As depicted, the courts can be sectioned off into multiple areas or used as one central court.
