UAB ROTC Facility
Birmingham, Alabama
The University of Alabama at Birmingham originally selected Charles Williams & Associates, Inc. to provide A/E services for the renovation of an existing building to house the university's ROTC program. Upon further investigation into the existing wood framed building originally constructed in the 1980s, it was found to be more cost effective to demolish the building and construct a metal framed structure in its place that would provide the ROTC program with all required spatial needs. The 14,000sf facility houses both administrative and classroom functions as well as multifunctional training areas. With the decision to build new, UAB was able to extend its architectural language to the western portion of the campus.
